When you need a Lyft just open up your Lyft app and request a ride.  Sometimes this app is cheaper than Uber if Uber prices are surging. Lyft rides are a little more laid back than with Uber, typically you ride in the front and the drivers for Lyft are often riders as well, making it truly a ride sharing app.

It’s smart to have both Uber and Lyft on your phone and check Lyft if Uber’s prices are surging. First time users also get some credit for their first ride.

UPDATE: LIMITED TIME OFFER– For November 2015 – All new users to Ibotta will earn a $10 cash sign up bonus after redeeming 10 Ibotta rebates! This is the biggest sign up bonus Ibotta has ever offered. So there’s never been a better time to be an Ibotta user!

Ibotta-App

With Ibotta you can ditch the coupons and earn cash back on purchases from department stores, grocery stores, and even the liquor store (don’t judge!). Ibotta offers cash back on common grocery items such as milk and often offers bonuses which really allows you to rack up the cash quickly. You can transfer the cash you earn to your paypal account or buy gift cards with your earnings. All you do to redeem an Ibotta rebate is scan the UPC barcode of the item that qualifies for the rebate and then scan your receipt. What makes it even easier is retailers like Walmart that have a QR code at the bottom of the receipt that easily submits your data to Ibotta and usually the cash is credited to your account in a few hours. It’s really easy and certainly easier than clipping coupons.

Uber is the easiest way to get around and usually it’s cheaper than a taxi and more reliable too. I find when I take a taxi I never know if the taxi is going to show up if I call the dispatcher. With Uber you can track the arrival status of your driver by watching the map on the app. With traditional taxis you get taken on a the “scenic route” sometimes in areas you are unfamiliar with, but with Uber you get emailed a map of the route you took so you can’t get ripped off. Recently I was in a non-Uber city and took a taxi and the fare was $17 (With Uber it would have been $10) and I had a twenty dollar bill and the driver responds “I don’t have change?!” WTF, I, as the rider, am supposed to provide exact change when I don’t even know what the fare is going to be??? With Uber you connect your account with your paypal account or credit card and there’s no cash exchanged. No one has to make change. Easy.
